Some of The Good Stuff

 

Coconut Oil: Coconut oil, a healthy fat that supports your brain and vital organs, also works to boost your energy and keep you satisfied for longer. Always use raw, virgin coconut oil; refined and processed coconut oil has lost some of its wonderful health benefits.

Ginger: Add powdered ginger for immune-boosting and anti-inflammatory properties; you can use fresh ginger root, but I find that powdered has a slightly more subtle flavor.

Chia Seeds: Chia seeds: The tiny wonder seed that finds its way into every smoothie . Chia seeds are rich in fiber, protein, and antioxidants, It keeps you more full, for longer, if you round out your smoothies with a few spoonfuls of chia seeds.

Almond Milk:Almond milk contains some of the same benefits as super-healthy almonds, like vitamin E and riboflavin.


INGREDIENTS

• 1 cup almond milk
• 1 ripe banana, sliced
• 1 cup frozen fruit medley (strawberry, mango, pineapple, papaya. Or your own choice !!!)
• 1 tablespoon coconut oil
• 1-2 tablespoons chia seeds
• 1 teaspoon powdered ginger ,(or half teaspoon of grated ginger)


INSTRUCTIONS

Combine the almond milk, banana, frozen fruit, coconut oil, chia seeds, and powdered ginger in a blender and purée until smooth.

You can swap the almond milk for orange juice, or add a cup of plain yogurt for a thicker version.

The banana and coconut oil give the smoothie a creamy consistency, the more coconut oil you use, the creamier it will be.

Pour into a glass and serve immediately.


With the right blend of ingredients, a smoothie can be a nutritional powerhouse,full of antioxidants, minerals, vitamins, and protein. Just a few misguided add-ins, however, and you’ve got a high-calorie, sugar-laden dessert on your hands.
